The exploration of mundane everyday acts influences my sculpture and installation work. This offshoot of the Mass Observation Movement deconstructs common social conditions and rebuilds representational symbols into interpretive structures. My work evolves from a minute exploration of the ordinary: homelessness, war, the economy, and unemployment. Symbols of these everyday encounters are combined into grids, multiples, and repetitive images. The underlying structure in each piece unifies the objects into powerful visual field and invites the viewer to rethink the mundane. |
